# Files overview

What each file in plugins/rnCombatPvP does.

| File | What it is for |
| -------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `config.yml` | Every setting: language, storage, combat tag, displays, restrictions, item cooldowns, combat log, protections, safe zones, kills, bounties, sounds and Discord. See [config.yml](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/configuration/config.md). |
| `menus.yml` | Layout of every menu: rows, slots, items, sounds and your own buttons. See [Menus](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/configuration/menus.md). |
| `languages/en.yml`, `languages/es.yml` | Every text: messages, action bar, boss bar, titles, the death recap, menus and the editor. Add your own language by copying one. See [Languages](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/configuration/languages.md). |
| `data/combat.db` | Stats, rating, PvP on/off, newbie time, pending combat log punishments, player settings and bounties (SQLite). Not used with MySQL. |
| `backups/` | Copies of your files made before the plugin changes them. |

## Safe updates

* New options of a new version are **added to your files** with their comments; nothing you wrote is changed.
* A file with a YAML mistake is never overwritten: the console shows the line and how to fix it, and the plugin uses the defaults until you fix it.
* Files are applied by themselves a few seconds after you save them (`auto-reload`), or with `/combat reload`.

See [Updating](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/getting-started/updating.md) for what an update changes and where the backups go.
