# Bounties

Money on players' heads - placing, claiming, tax and expiry.

Players put money on another player's head. Whoever kills that player gets all of it. Bounties need **Vault** and an economy plugin.

Bounties are **off** by default: turn them on with `bounties.enabled: true` in `config.yml` or in `/combat editor` > **Bounties**.

## Placing a bounty

```
/combatbounty <player> <amount> [anon]
```

* Amounts can be written as `500`, `1,500`, `2.5k` or `1m`.
* `anon` hides your name: everyone sees "Someone".
* The amount is taken from your money at once. The server keeps `bounties.tax-percent` (5%) and the rest goes on the head: with 5% tax, paying 1,000 puts 950.
* The smallest amount is `bounties.min` (100). You can't put a bounty on yourself.
* Several players can put money on the same player; it adds up.
* The target is told ("Alex put $500 on your head!"). When the total reaches `bounties.broadcast-min` (1,000) everyone is told (`0` = never). With a Discord webhook and `discord.bounties: true`, it is posted on Discord.

Players can also do it from the menu: `/combatbounty` (or **Bounties** in `/combat`), then **Put a bounty**, type the name in the chat and then the amount (add `anon` after the amount to hide your name). Clicking a player in the list adds money to their bounty.

## Claiming

Killing a player with a bounty (or their [combat log NPC](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/guides/combat-log.md)) pays the **whole total** to the killer. Everyone is told, and the actions of `bounties.rewards` run for the killer (`{amount}`, `{victim}`, `{killer}`):

```yaml
bounties:
  rewards:
    - "[title] <gold>Bounty!|<yellow>+{amount}"
```

* With `bounties.setter-can-claim: false` (default), a player who helped to pay a bounty can't claim it: the bounty stays on the head.
* [Farmed kills](/rnsetups/rncombatpvp/guides/kills-and-rewards.md#anti-kill-farm) never claim a bounty.

## Expiry

Bounties nobody claimed in `bounties.expire-days` (7) are paid back to whoever put them (`0` = never expire). Each part goes back to its own payer, who is told if online. The tax is not paid back.

## Commands

| Command                                  | What it does                            | Permission               |
| ---------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| `/combatbounty` or `/combatbounty list`  | The bounties menu                       | everyone                 |
| `/combatbounty <player>`                 | The total on a player                   | everyone                 |
| `/combatbounty <player> <amount> [anon]` | Puts a bounty                           | `rncombat.bounty`        |
| `/combatbounty remove <player>`          | Removes a bounty and pays everyone back | `rncombat.bounty.remove` |

`%rncombat_bounty%` shows the bounty on a player (formatted) and `%rncombat_bounty_raw%` the plain number.

`/bounty` works too as a short name of `/combatbounty`, but only when bounties are on when the server starts and no other plugin (NotBounties, for example) already has `/bounty`. Otherwise use `/combatbounty`.
