# FAQ and troubleshooting

Common questions and problems.

**rnPsMenu doesn't start: "ProtectionStones is not running".** Install ProtectionStones and WorldGuard first. On 1.21.1–1.21.9 use ProtectionStones 2.10.5 (newer versions only start on 1.21.10+). Check the console for ProtectionStones errors.

**Players don't see some buttons.** Buttons a player can't use are hidden. Most actions need a ProtectionStones permission that is given to operators only by default (see [Commands and permissions](/rnsetups/rnpsmenu/reference/commands.md)).

**The flags menu is empty or misses a flag.** It shows the `allowed_flags` of the block type in ProtectionStones plus `flags.extra-allowed` in `config.yml`. Add the flag to one of them. Also check `hidden` in `flags.yml`.

**A flag shows "Locked".** It is kept for some block types or a permission (`types` / `permission` in `flags.yml`). See [Flags kept for better blocks or ranks](/rnsetups/rnpsmenu/guides/flags.md#flags-kept-for-better-blocks-or-ranks).

**A flag like `crafting-table-use` is set to allow, but visitors still can't use the block.** Allow only lifts WorldGuard's own protection. If a lock plugin (LWC, Bolt...) or a shop plugin refuses the click, that plugin wins.

**`/ps` opens a menu, but I want ProtectionStones' chat list.** Set `open.replace-ps-commands.ps`, `open.replace-ps-commands.home` or `open.replace-ps-commands.flag` to `false` (`open.replace-ps-commands.flag` also covers `/ps flags`). Anything typed after them (`/ps home base`) always goes to ProtectionStones.

**"That flag can't apply to another group here."** The block type limits the flag with `-g` in `allowed_flags`.

**PvP can't be removed.** Like `/ps flag`, pvp can't be removed when the block type gives it a value, because that would turn it on for non-members.

**"can't change while visitors are inside".** The anti-trap lock (`flags.lock-while-visitors-inside`). Wait until the visitors leave.

**The shop, market or economy buttons are missing.** Install Vault and an economy plugin. Taxes also need `tax_enabled = true` in ProtectionStones' `config.toml`.

**A region is not on the web map.** Its owner set the Map marker flag to deny, or the map has not been redrawn yet (`map-markers.refresh-seconds`). See [Web maps](/rnsetups/rnpsmenu/guides/maps.md).

**Taxes or rent payments of ProtectionStones don't work.** ProtectionStones looks for the economy when it starts. If your economy plugin starts after ProtectionStones, ProtectionStones runs without economy. Make sure the economy plugin loads first.

**Does it work on Folia?** Yes, with a Folia build of ProtectionStones and WorldGuard 7.0.16 or newer. Vault does not run on Folia, so economy features are hidden there. rnPsMenu's own flags work the same as on Paper (`nether-portal-use` included). Some WorldGuard flags (`entry`, `enderpearl`, `time-lock`, `weather-lock`, greetings and farewells) only apply on Folia when the player walks across the border, not when they arrive by teleport: that is how WorldGuard works on Folia. rnPsMenu's region bans do stop teleports too.

**lava-flow or water-flow is set to deny but lava/water still spreads.** WorldGuard only checks these two flags when `regions.high-frequency-flags: true` is set in `plugins/WorldGuard/config.yml` (or in that world's own `config.yml`), then `/wg reload`. While it is off, rnPsMenu marks both flags as "Not active on this server" in the flags menu and warns in the console at start.

## Notes

* **Spigot 26:** WorldGuard does not apply `grass-growth`, `mycelium-spread` or `fire-spread` on Spigot 26 servers. You can change them in the flags menu, but they have no effect there. On Paper, Purpur and Folia they work as usual.
* **Spigot:** a `time-lock` change can take a few seconds to show for players already inside the region, because Spigot (not Paper) sends the time to players every few seconds.
