# Updating

Install a new version of the setup or update a single plugin.

## New version of the setup

Every update on BuiltByBit comes with a changelog that lists what changed.

* **Fresh install:** follow [Installation](/rnsetups/ultimate-survival/getting-started/installation.md) with the new zip.
* **Existing server:** keep your `world` folders and player data. Add the new plugins with their folders, and replace only the config files you have **not** customized. Then restart.

**Updating to v2.0:** the spawn map changed. Replace `world/dimensions/minecraft/void`, delete the xPsMenu jar and folder, add rnPsMenu with its folder, and replace the configs of FancyNpcs, FancyHolograms, WorldGuard (`worlds/void`), Essentials (`warps`, `spawn.yml`), ExcellentCrates (`objects/crate`), rnKoth (`koths`) and ConditionalEvents if you have not customized them. A clean install is the easiest way.

## Updating one plugin

1. Download the new jar from the plugin's official page.
2. Upload it to `plugins/` and **delete or rename the old jar** (for example add `.disabled` to its name).
3. Restart the server and check the console for errors.

After updating a plugin that adds new config options, review its config folder.

**Geyser:** the setup ships **Geyser 2.12.0**, a development build of Geyser's `feature/26.3` branch, and **Floodgate 2.2.5**, because the official Geyser release (2.11.3) does not start on Paper 26.3 yet. When a Geyser release adds support for Minecraft 26.3, update it from [geysermc.org/download](https://geysermc.org/download).
